All volunteers are asked to have a criminal background check and attend an in-person interview. Matches meet once a week for an hour during recess and lunch times or at the end of the school day. Mentors and mentees have a designated meeting place within each building.  Each mentoring room is monitored by an on-site manager where mentors and mentees engage in academic and youth development activities for the purpose of friendship and cultural enrichment. Normally, mentors are asked to make a one-year commitment.
